The ‘Dialogical’ Trinitarian Theology of Dumitru Stăniloae

Abstract Trinitarian theology occupies a central place in the work of Dumitru Stăniloae. For him, Trinity is “real metaphysics” and, several studies, he develops rich and complex Triadology drawing on philosophical notions dialogue intersubjectivity. Since both these have been developed first by Western philosophy, article aims to examine Stăniloae’s debt thought. Contrary some widespread opinions, will argue that engagement with West was not only polemical, but also constructive fruitful. In step, identify readings through which subjectivity entered understanding Trinity. Then, it move analyse way Stăniloae rephrased concepts frame Orthodox tradition. Finally, assess originality impact thought Stăniloae, comparing his model modern models from East West.
